We send three over to Catterick on Monday where the going at the time of writing is good to firm, and they are watering to maintain.
After being without a win in 25 attempts since scoring at York back in July 2019, Irv finally got his head in front at Beverley 20 days ago when coming home a comfortable half length winner, from a much reduced mark of 56. He has been raised 3lb for that success which seems fair, but the step up in trip to 12 furlongs is an unknown. The race is at 1.50.pm, a 0-70 Amateur Jockeys event with Becky Smith retaining the ride.
We are also represented in the race by Burnage Boy who will be partnered by Amy Hunt who had her first ever ride on Milltown Lily at Carlisle last week. Burnage Boy is now a 38 raced maiden under both codes, and will have to race from 6lb out of the weights here, although Amy can claim 7lb. Burnage Boy will have no problem with the ground or trip, but he hasn't raced from a mark as high as this since July 2019.
Our other runner is the four year old gelding Profiles Mix who goes to post for the 12 furlongs novices stakes at 4.25.pm, where he will have the services of Aiden Brookes on top. Profiles Mix has shown signs of temperament at times and has yet to show any worthwhile form in three bumpers and a flat run at Ponterfact when he was last seen 22 days ago. He is the only older horse in the race taking on six lightly raced three year old's, so learning to settle better and gaining more experience will be the priorities.
