CALIPTION.

CALIPTION. 09 March 2012. Fair Mix-Sheriff's Falcon. Owner-The Cheltenham Trail.

Caliption is a lightly raced eight year old gelding by Fair Mix, out of a Presenting mare.He has done all of his racing in Ireland to date, and until arriving here at Oakwood Stables, has always run in the colours of Gigginstown House Stud.

Caliption made his racecourse debut in a four year old only point to point at Oldtown in February 2016, going off at odds of 4/7, and winning comfortably. He was given a break before returning for his rules debut, now in the care of Mouse Morris, at Navan in December, where he finished a 20 length fifth,of the 28 runners, in a maiden hurdle. His next three runs were all in bumpers, two weeks later he finished forth at Leopardstown, recording a very promising Racing Post Rating of 116, before having his Summer break, and returning at Tipperary in October 2017, to finish second, and then followed that up two weeks later at Cork, when finishing forth, but beaten only four and a half lengths.

He was back over hurdles in November where he unseated his rider J.J.Slevin three out, when still in with every chance. There was probably something amiss after that, as in his next three runs he failed to get competitive, but on his handicap debut off a mark of 109 in May 2018, at Limerick, he was still going well under Rachael Blackmore, when being brought down four out.

Caliption was moved to Gordon Elliott for his chase debut less than a month later, where after some poor jumping, he still managed a respectable forth placing, beaten by 10 lengths, under Davy Russell. He raced twice more for the Elliott yard, in June, and July 2018, on both occasions he ran well in maiden hurdles, to finish third, the later over three miles.

Caliption has been off the track since then, but if he retains his ability, he will be winning for us.He will probably require three miles, and there is the added bonus that he acts on any type of going.
