Kate Walton

Kate began training her own horses in 1992 and had a winner with only her second ever runner under Rules when Northumbrian King won a novices’ hunter chase at Huntingdon in April that year.

She went on to enjoy a successful 20 year training career, mainly over jumps, from Sharp Hill Stables just up the road from us in Middleham. Kate was associated with some highly successful and much loved horses, notably 2009 Eider Chase runner-up Morgan Be, tough chaser Huka Lodge and high class hurdlers Nevertika and Stopped Out. Another one of Kates' notable horses was Sitting Tennant who won the John Smiths Champion Standard Open National Hunt flat race (Grade 2) at the Aintree festival on Grand National day.

Sharp Hill Barn is now our second yard where we train 20 - 26 horses from and were more than happy to welcome Kate on board, her knowledge and experience, not to mention her banter, made her a valued addition to our team!

Kate rides out, drives the horsebox, leads up on busy days and makes sure that everything runs smoothly up at Sharp Hill Barn.
